Islwyn the Ham Radio Operator

I just like this picture of Islwyn--so I decided to post it. I like how it shows off his dimple!

Here is a picture of Islwyn fixing papa's ham radio. I wonder if he will be a ham radio operator when he gets older.

Islwyn has recently learned how to put on hats by himself. It is now one of his favorite things to do. Countless times a day I turn around and he has gotten his hat, or my hat, off the hook in the kitchen and put it on his head. Then he spends half the day with his hat on. These are pictures of him this morning. he put my hat on--but it is too big so it covers his whole face. He was wandering around the house, running into things because he couldn't see very well. Then he decided he needed to vacuum with his vacuum popper too. It was so funny.

Mical's Visit

We had so much fun when Mical visited. Here are some pictures of Islwyn showing Mical where her mouth, nose, hair, etc are.

Islwyn, Jonathan and Mical had a lot of fun playing dominoes together too. You can see Jonathan and Islwyn sorting the dominoes. Then later Mical and Jonathan played a game, with Islwyn helping Mical with her turns.

On Sunday night we got a sitter for Islwyn and then Mical, Jonathan, and I went out together for dinner. It was a lot of fun. Good food, good drinks, and good company! We wish she could have stayed longer.

Commenting

I have set up this blog so that you don't have to have a blogger acct. to comment anymore. So if you want to comment on something, just click the "comments" tab at the bottom of the post and you can then type in your comment. But please sign your name or initials at the bottom if you are posting without a blogger acct. so I know WHO made the comment. I would LOVE to see more comments from more people. It lets me know there are people out there actually reading this!

Islwyn's First Snow

Here is a video clip of the first time Islwyn played in the snow. Basically all he wanted to do was EAT the snow. He was also trying to catch snowflakes in his mouth while it was snowing.

Islwyn Loves Puzzles

One of Islwyn's favorite things to do is
put a puzzle together. In the pictures below he is doing his favorite puzzle. He knows exactly where each piece goes the first time he tries! He has a little trouble getting the pieces into their spots though. Sometimes they get kind of stuck and other times he has the puzzle piece turned the wrong direction. But he always knows where they go. I think that is pretty good for a 1 1/2 year old! When we go to the library he always goes straight for the table where all the puzzles are. He is really good at the puzzle of different shapes.

In this picture he has the puzzle pieces up to his ears. he likes to pretend that they are telephones and that he is talking on the phone to one of his friends. He puts the pieces up to his ears and say, "Hello! Hello!"

I have been working on knitting Jonathan a sweater and he has fallen in love with the ball of yarn. He points at it and says, "Ball! Ball!" and then grabs it and gives it hugs. Here's a picture!

Islwyn is really excited to see his Aunt Mical today! Check in soon for some pictures of her visit!

Sick Islwyn

Poor little Islwyn is really sick with a bad cold. He is coughing and sneezing, with a super runny nose. I have a milder version of the same cold. He has been having trouble napping and sleeping-even though he is extremely tired. Poor baby. We have the humidifier going in his room since that is really the only thing we can do for him since we are not supposed to give babies cough medicine anymore. He seems fairly happy otherwise though--playing and running around. He just cries a little more easily and is not eating as much as usual. If anyone has any ideas of things that may help his cold--let me know!

Islwyn's First Sentence

Islwyn said his first sentence yesterday. It was, "More naan!" I was eating some leftover Indian food and I gave Islwyn a piece on naan dipped in the sauce. When he was finished with his piece, then he said he wanted, "More naan." It was really cute. The next sentence he said was, "More m and m's!"

He has adopted a few new habits. One of his favorite things to do is take the cushion off this chair so he can sit in the chair without the cushion. Then he gets the afghan and puts it over his legs, and then he reads his favorite books. Here is a picture of it. He has done this quiet a few times all on his own. It was his idea!

Another thing that he likes to do is type on the keyboard. He found this keyboard in the closet in our room. He has taken to dragging it all over the house with him so that he can type on it whenever he needs to. In this picture he is watching Donald Duck cartoons with papa.

Another one of his favorite things is the pillow I made him. While we were in Kansas I got some material that I thought would make a cute pillow for Islwyn. So I sewed it up the other day. Below are some pictures of the pillow. He LOVES it. Almost every time I check on him when he is sleeping he is snuggling his pillow or has his head resting on it. Then many times when he gets up from his nap or in the morning he keeps holding onto his pillow and needs to hold it until he is fully awake. It is so cute. I wanted to get a picture of him sleeping with his pillow--but knew I would probably end up waking him up by taking a picture and didn't want to risk it.

Islwyn Cowboy

Islwyn showing us where his nose is.

[DSC_0165.jpg]Over Christmas, I decided to try my hand at making Islwyn some clothes. Jonathan's grandmother was nice enough to help me with it. We picked out the materials and she helped me follow an oldpattern she already had. It was a lot of fun and I think the overalls turned out really cute. [DSC_0164.jpg]

Islwyn

I want to start posting pictures and video clips of Islwyn as he grows. So I am going to try and use this blog as a way to share his growing with family and friends.

Islwyn is now 1 1/2 years old and loves running around and wreaking havoc! :) One of his favorite things to do is cook. He gets pots and pans out. Then he'll get potatoes and onions out of the drawer and put them in the pot and shake them around like he is cooking them. He also loves watching food bake in the oven. He always has to check food while it bakes, while saying, "hot, hot."

He had a lot of fun over Christmas with his Nani and Grandad (gaga), Great Grandpa and Grandma, Uncle Nathanael and Aunt Lindsey. He also got to see Uncle Randy, Uncle Rob and Aunt Stacy. He loved being the center of attention and playing with the uppies (puppies).

But, we are all glad to be home. The plane trip out to Kansas and back was a nightmare. We got stuck in Chicago for over 24 hours on the way there and then for about 6 hours on the way back. While it is annoying and frustrating without a toddler, with an overtired and hungry toddler it is a nightmare!!! Needless to say, we will not be going on any more trips for a while.

I am planning to upload some video of Islwyn's first time playing in the snow and him decorating the Christmas tree, so check back soon.
